PATNA: Former Bharatiya Janata Party ideologue K N Govindacharya said that the root cause of all the social, economic and international problems in India is because of its aping of the western world. There is not a single avenue of life where the western style has not been forced on the people, he said.
Gonvidacharya was speaking at a seminar on " Desh ki sthiti ke vibhin pahalu: Samadhan ki Disha", organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Sampurn Kranti Manch, here on Sunday.
He said that the main reason behind all the problems including unemployment and poverty is that no political party or social organisation has not tried to come up with a method that is suitable to Indian social condition. They forget that what the British or Mughals did was only to run the government, he said adding that at no point of time they were interested in the welfare of the masses.
Govindacharya said that whatever is successful in the western world will not necessarily be a success in India. By the example of summer holiday which has become a part of India he tried to justify his statements. He said that they gave summer vacation because they were not able to bear the heat and wanted to lead a comfortable life at some hill resort. But this should be changed according to the need of the masses in the present time, he said.
He further said that if the vacation is during the monsoon it will be a great help in improving the economy of families and in turn the countries. This is because a large population dependent on agriculture and the children free from school can be a help to the family, he maintained.
Criticising the decision of the India government to join the world trade organisation (WTO) he said that it is because of short-sightedness of the policy makers that the Indian economy is suffering heavy losses. He said "about 60 per cent of countries economy is governed by local forces and only 10 per cent by world market". Therefore it was not necessary for a country like India to join the WTO in a hurry, he said.
He said that western policy of globalisation is similarly not suitable for India as it has in no way helped in eradicating poverty and unemployment here. On the other hand it has provided a breeding ground for the western multinational companies who make a huge profit here and use it in their own countries. " It is proved by documents of both the government and companies that over 90 per cent of the funds in these companies is generated from the Indian market, said Govindacharya.
He called upon the political parties and individuals to come out of their ideological differences and work for the development of an indigenous model that can help in all round development. "This will be a real homage to our fore fathers who laid their life for us to breath freely in an independent country", he said.
